Overview
Athona Ltd is seeking a Haematology Medical Advisor to provide expert guidance in stem cell donation and transplantation. This senior-level role is designed for experienced medical professionals, including consultants or specialty doctors, who want to contribute to donor safety and clinical excellence while maintaining a flexible schedule.
Visa sponsorship is available under the UK Skilled Worker route, making this opportunity suitable for both UK-based and international clinicians.
Role Responsibilities
- Evaluate the medical suitability of stem cell donors and make independent clinical decisions.
- Review laboratory findings and donor follow-up reports, advising on appropriate next steps.
- Address donor-specific clinical queries, including G-CSF use and collection protocols.
- Approve repeat donations, atypical transplant requests, and additional investigations.
- Support management of donor-related complications and clinical issues.
- Communicate test results and clinical advice to donors with clarity and compassion.
Candidate Requirements
- Medical degree with full GMC registration.
- Consultant or experienced specialty doctor status.
- Demonstrated experience in haematopoietic stem cell transplantation or cellular therapies.
- Strong knowledge of HLA typing, donor matching, and transplant procedures.
- Understanding of diseases treatable through stem cell transplantation.
- Excellent clinical judgment, independence, and communication skills.
